Southern Home Ownership – Now part of Southern Housing
Following the completion of the legal merger between Optivo and Southern Housing Group to create Southern Housing, Southern Home Ownership will become part of the newly merged organisation.
Plans to merge the two not-for-profit housing associations were first announced in March 2022. Over the following months both organisations engaged extensively with residents, colleagues and external partners.
Historically, Optivo and Southern Housing Group have operated in similar geographies, both owning homes in 38 of the same local authorities. Southern Housing will become one of the largest housing associations in the UK with with over 77,000 homes across London, the South East, the Isle of Wight and the Midlands, giving over 167,000 people somewhere affordable to call their own.
Southern Housing will offer a range of services, whether it's traditional social housing, shared ownership, affordable rent, private market rent, student accommodation, care and support or outright sales, Southern Housing’s vision is to create communities where everyone has a safe home in a place where they’re proud to live.

As part of the new organisation, we will continue to offer modern and stylish Shared Ownership properties in London and the South East of England. Our customers will be directly notified in due course, and kept up to date with any changes which may arise as a result of the merger.
