1.     Herbs

Herbs make a great addition to any balcony because they are easy to grow, and can be kept in relatively small containers.  They also tend to like sunlight which makes them perfect for balconies, which are secret suntraps. Sage, thyme and rosemary are all excellent choices for a balcony and additionally you can use them in cooking – a win win situation. 

2.     Succulents

Succulents retain water which means they can go a relatively long time without being watered. 4.     Geraniums

Geraniums are the perfect way to add multiple colours to your balcony. Trailing Geraniums have delicate pink, purple red or white flowers that will cascade beautifully from your hanging baskets. They are also easy to look after which means they can be kept in well-lit areas or in shade.

5.     Perennials

Perennials are known to thrive, no matter what condition they are put in, which means that they will compliment a balcony environment perfectly. The perennials group contains many well known flowers such as Lavender and Lillies and can add different colours and textures to any space. 

6.     Begonias

Begonias are beautiful flowers which are known to survive in partial shade, so are suitable for north facing balconies. Their flowers can be white, pink or red and so add pops of colour to your outdoor space when in flower.
