London Street Art Guide

London Street Art Guide

From memorials, portraits, and statues to infamous Banksy signature pieces, London is home to a thriving street art scene. We’ve put together a short guide to the best locations for street art in the Capital.

1.     Brick Lane

Known for its quirky and diverse weekly market, and famous curries, Brick Lane and the surrounding roads create a treasure hunt for street art. From Commercial Street’s graffiti portraits, to the unmissable crane by Rower on Hanbury Street, this is the place in East London for street art.
Train Station: Shoreditch High Street

2.     Camden

Camden is one of the top tourist destinations in London and hosts a range of markets, food stalls and street art. From memorials celebrating the life of Camden regular Amy Winehouse, to murals of colourful characters from the Muppets, there is plenty to feast your eyes upon.
Train Station: Camden Town Underground station or Mornington Crescent Underground Station

3.     Leake Street Tunnel

The 300-metre tunnel underneath Waterloo Station is covered in street art, with stencil, graffiti and sprays there are a number of different styles to admire. The art is constantly changing and everyday there are new artists creating their masterpieces – perfect if you want to see the latest work in the flesh.

Train Station: Waterloo

4.     Hackney Wick

The former industrial area has rapidly changed and is now home to some hidden street art. French street artist, Thierry Noir and his recognisable cartoon-like depictions of animals and humans, on Wallis Road, are particularly worth checking out.

5.     Croydon

Croydon is home to a thriving street art scene, supported by RISEGallery which runs an Arts Quarter Project to help artists and landowners locate public areas to showcase street art. Take a walk to Queen’s Gardens to spot art by emerging artists.

6.     Southbank

The popular Southbank Skatepark is an urban underground harbour for graffiti art and skaters. The walls are covered with different colours and sketches, and the space is used by skateboarders, BMXers, street artists and photographers.
